Trap-Jaw Ant Is One of the Rarest In the U.S.

Odontomachus relictus is a trap-jaw ant species that is found only in endangered scrub habitat on central Florida's ancient sand ridges. Researchers now suspect that different groups of O. relictus may have evolved into separate species, which would make the new species the rarest ant in North America.
