Psychosocial support interventions in medical settings can improve survival (IMAGE)
Caption
Psychosocial support improves medical patient survival as much as medical rehabilitation programs. Note: lnOR = natural logarithm of odds ratio of patient survival. lnHR = natural logarithm of the hazard ratio of patient survival. Effect size of 0 indicates no effect, and values above 1 favor the intervention group relative to the control group. Comparison effect sizes and 95% confidence intervals were reported in meta-analyses: A = McQueen et al.; B = Wu et al.; C = Taylor et al.; D = Ma et al.; E = Kritchevsky et al.; F = Mons et al.; G = Taylor et al.; H = Calman et al.; I = Hauner et al.. CVD, cardiovascular disease.
