Caption
Rheumatoid arthritis is a common autoimmune disease involving joint inflammation and damage. Researchers have uncovered a metabolic defect in T cells from rheumatoid arthritis patients, which may be corrected by replenishing T cells' reactive oxygen species supply. This material relates to a paper that appeared in the March, 23, 2016 issue of Science Translational Medicine, published by AAAS. The paper, by author at institution in location, and colleagues was titled, "Restoring oxidant signaling suppresses proarthritogenic T cell effector functions in rheumatoid arthritis."
