The Collared Trogon (Trogon collaris) is an evolutionarily distinct bird that declines in agriculture landscapes but thrives in tropical rainforest. This material relates to a paper that appeared in the Sept. 12 2014, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The paper, by L.O. Frishkoff at Stanford University in Stanford, CA, and colleagues was titled, 'Neotropical agriculture reduces phylogenetic diversity and favors closely related birds.'
