Severe Haze Approaching Beijing

Persistent haze pollution events have occurred frequently in the Beijing -- Tianjin -- Hebei region in recent years. The paper is selected as the cover article of the 4th issue of Advances in Atmospheric Sciences. The cover is produced based on a schematic of the dynamic conditions necessary for the formation of severe persistent haze events and a photo of an instance of severe haze approaching Beijing, taken by Zhiwang PAN (photojournalist of the Beijing Times) from China Zun (the highest building in Beijing).
