Under African Skies: Researchers Analysing Light Energy from the GRB 190114C Gamma-ray Burst (IMAGE)
Caption
Researchers from the Centre for Astro-Particle Physics (CAPP) within the Department of Physics at the University of Johannesburg (UJ) collaborate with the teams from the Fermi gamma-ray space telescope, the MAGIC telescopes on the Canary Islands and many others to better understand energy emissions from stars.
Prof Soebur Razzaque (left) is the Director of the centre, Dr Feraol Fana Dirirsa (right), a research fellow. Both contributed to the validation of Inverse Compton emission by the afterglow of the gamma-ray burst GRB 190114C.
