Two adult female rhesus macaques rest in close proximity to each other. This reinforcement of social relationships may help offset some of the effects of low social status. This material relates to a paper that appeared in the Nov. 25, 2016, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The paper, by N. Snyder-Mackler at Duke University in Durham, NC, and colleagues was titled, "Social status alters immune regulation and response to infection in macaques."
