Schematic of a Spherical Cluster of Stem Cells (IMAGE)
Caption
Figure: A schematic showing the growth of a spherical cluster of stem cells from a mature cell on a confined substrate. Fibroblast cells that are confined to rectangular areas and allowed to grow over 10 days, form spherical clusters of cells. With the confinement, specific genomic markers normally associated with mature fibroblasts were lost by the sixth day and by the 10th day, the cells expressed genes normally associated with embryonic stem cells and iPSCs.
