NASA-NOAA's Suomi NPP satellite passed over Kalmaegi in the Northwestern Pacific Ocean and the VIIRS instrument aboard captured this image of the storm on Nov. 14, 2019 at 1:12 a.m. EST (0512 UTC). VIIRS showed strong storms in a large area (yellow/green) north and northwest of the center, where cloud top temperatures were as cold as minus 80 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 62.2 Celsius).
