Mormyrid electric fishes can also be found in small creeks within the tropical rainforests of Gabon. Here, in Bambomo Creek, the species Paramormyrops kingsleyae was found in abundance. This image relates to an article that appeared in the April 29, 2011, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The study, by Dr. Bruce Carlson of Washington University in St. Louis, Mo., and colleagues, was titled, "Brain Evolution Triggers Increased Diversification of Electric Fishes."
