Routine heart scans for patients referred to cardiac clinics with chest pain could reduce heart attack rates by improving diagnosis and treatment, new research suggests. Doctors have now received £2 million to investigate whether giving the scans to all patients who arrive at hospital emergency departments with chest pains can save lives by identifying those most at risk of heart attack.
