The Agua Fria River in Yauapai County, Arizona. This river is one of 36 rivers included in Sabo et al.'s analysis of food chain length. This image relates to an article that appeared in the Oct. 14, 2010, issue of Science Express, published by AAAS. The study, by Dr. John L. Sabo of Arizona State University in Tempe Ariz., and colleagues was titled, "The Role of Discharge Variation in Scaling of Drainage Area and Food Chain Length in Rivers."
