This is a false-color confocal laser scanning micrograph which shows the ventral view of a common water flea (Daphnia pulex). This image relates to an article that appeared in the Feb. 4, 2011, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The study, by Dr. John Colbourne of Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind., and colleagues was titled, "The Ecoresponsive Genome of Daphnia pulex."
