An Alternative, More Stable Gene Drive (3 of 4) (IMAGE)
Caption
Previous drive constructs are inserted at a target sequence (blue) and carry a CRISPR nuclease with a guide RNA, as well as a 'cargo gene.' Disruption of the target sequence must be nearly neutral for the drive to spread. This material relates to a paper that appeared in the 05 April 2017, issue of Science Advances, published by AAAS. The paper, by C. Noble at Harvard University in Cambridge, Mass., and colleagues was titled, "Evolutionary dynamics of CRISPR gene drives."
