Medical Science, 3-D Printing Used to Breathe New Life In To Rare Woodwind Instruments (VIDEO)

Music professors and engineers at the University of Connecticut have managed to restore rare woodwind instruments that hadn’t been played in over a century. The team used medical science technology to obtain precise measurements and then 3-D printing to replicate vital parts of the instruments so they can be played for the first time with a sound true to their heritage. The technology may allow for the restoration of other rare and valuable antique instruments.
