This is a block removed from floor of La Pasiega Cave, Spain. This area of floor was used by an Ice Age artist to mix color, perhaps 15,000 years ago. This image relates to a paper that appeared in the June 15, 2012, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The paper, by Alistair Pike at the University of Bristol in Bristol, UK, and colleagues was titled, "U-Series Dating of Paleolithic Art in 11 Caves in Spain."
