Cell Sugar Concentrations Affect Hyaluronan Production and Cancer Growth (IMAGE)
Caption
The photo features a peritoneum mesothelial cell which with the help of gene transfer has been activated to produce extremely large quantities of hyaluronan. Cells that are active in producing hyaluronan grow protuberances to the cell membrane, which then serve as specific hyaluronan factories of the cell. These protuberances and their role in cancer cells are also subjects of active research.
