Tara collected planktonic organisms together with environmental parameters throughout the world, including the polar regions, over a three-year period. This involved the use of sophisticated sampling devices and physicochemical sensors. The sampling protocol was devised by the scientific consortium which analyzed the results and authored the five papers in Science. This material relates to papers that appeared in the May 22, 2015, issue of Science, published by AAAS, regarding the Tara Expeditions.
