Color Holograms Appear Under White Light (1 of 12) (VIDEO)
Caption
This movie was taken with a camera moving around the virtual object, an apple with a leaf, reconstructed from a surface plasmon hologram illuminated with a halogen lamp. Color distribution of the object is successfully reconstructed in three dimensions with white-light, thanks to the color selectivity of surface plasmon resonance. This video relates to an article that appeared in the April 8, 2011, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The study, by M. Ozaki of Tokyo Denki University in Tokyo, Japan, and colleagues was titled, "Surface-Plasmon Holography with White-Light Illumination."
