The protein TAZ (green) is located primarily in the nucleus of control cancer stem cells (left). TAZ expression was diminished in cancer stem cells deficient in VEGF (right). This material relates to a paper that appeared in the 2 May, issue of Science Signaling, published by AAAS. The paper, by A.L. Elaimy at University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester, MA; and colleagues was titled, "VEGF-neuropilin-2 signaling promotes stem-like traits in breast cancer cells by TAZ-mediated repression of the Rac GAP β2-chimaerin."
