Image showing the crustal seismic velocity drop in Japan induced by the 2011 Mw 9.0 Tohoku-oki earthquake. The image shows a large anomaly in seismic velocity below the Mt. Fuji volcano. This image relates to a paper that appeared in the July 4, 2014, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The paper, by F. Brenguier at Université Joseph Fourier in Grenoble, France, and colleagues was titled, "Mapping pressurized volcanic fluids from induced crustal seismic velocity drops."
