Irma Arteaga, assistant professor in the Truman School of Public Affairs at the University of Missouri, says that WIC should be accessible for children until they enter kindergarten, regardless of age. In her latest research she discovered that food insecurity caused by the loss of WIC is linked to lower reading scores when children enter kindergarten.
