Studying Oil Sands (IMAGE) DOE/Argonne National Laboratory Caption An Argonne study found that gasoline and diesel refined from Canadian oil sands have a higher carbon impact than fuels derived from conventional domestic crude sources. The Greenhouse gases, Regulated Emissions, and Energy use in Transportation (GREET) model, developed at Argonne, helps users perform life cycle analysis simulations of alternative transportation fuels and vehicle technologies in a matter of a few clicks.
