Caption

ESO's European Extremely Large Telescope is ranked as one of two top-priority large ground-based projects in the ASTRONET Roadmap for European astronomy which is backed by the entire European scientific community and supported by the European Commission. The current design of the E-ELT in its enclosure is seen here. This dome will have an approximate height of 90m and a footprint of about 90m diameter.
