Electrons Stay Hot in Graphene (IMAGE)
Caption
This image is a color-rendering plot of the photovoltage measured in a graphene pn-junction device as a function of the charge density in each region of the device. The six-fold pattern, instead of a two-fold one, demonstrates that the photothermoelectric rather than a photovoltaic process is involved in the energy generation. This image relates to a paper that appeared in the Oct. 06, 2011, issue of Science Express, published by AAAS. The paper, by Dr. N.M. Gabor of Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Mass., and colleagues, was titled, "Hot Carrier-Assisted Intrinsic Photoresponse in Graphene."
