High energy, high rate, and long cycle life is the holy grail of battery research. An international team of researchers published details of an engineered electrode material that allows for such advanced batteries on Oct 8th in Science. The black phosphorous composite material has a more stable structure and a higher lithium ion storage capacity, and performs better in preventing electrolytes deposition.
