This is the predatory snail Cymbium cymbium in a seagrass meadows at low tide in Banc d'Arguin, Mauritania. This image relates to a paper that appeared in the June 15, 2012, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The paper, by Tjisse van der Heide at the University of Groningen in Groningen, Netherlands, and colleagues was titled, "A Three-Stage Symbiosis Forms the Foundation of Seagrass Ecosystems."
