A two-dimensional map of the "quality of gamma line fit" surface (chi^2 surface) as a function of its transition energy Eγ and lifetime τ of the nuclear state studied. The surface minimum, marked with a cross, determines the best fitting values Eγ and τ, and the black line illustrates the uncertainties (errors) of these quantities.
