New Lithium Battery Design Could Mean Lighter, Safer Batteries for Soldiers (IMAGE)
Caption
Gleb Yushin, a professor in Georgia Tech's School of Materials Science and Engineering and Kostiantyn Turcheniuk, research scientist in Yushin's lab, inspect a battery using a new cathode design that replaces expensive metals and traditional liquid electrolyte with lower cost transition metal fluorides and a solid polymer electrolyte. The research was funded by the U.S. Army.
