Fluorescing Single Molecules With DNA Origami (IMAGE)
Caption
Analogy between a conventional lens (left) focusing a light beam and the nano-lens (right) made with two spherical gold nano-particles on a DNA origami pillar structure. The nano-lens is able to focus the light beam between the particles in an extremely reduced volume. This image relates to a paper that appeared in the Oct. 26, 2012, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The paper, by Guillermo Acuna at Technische Universität Braunschweig in Braunschweig, Germany, and colleagues was titled, “Fluorescence Enhancement at Docking Sites of DNA-Directed Self-Assembled Nanoantennas."
