Evidence From History (IMAGE)
Caption
Lonnie Thompson located an image (below top) taken by a Peruvian photographer back in the 1930s that showed the extent of coverage of several glaciers high in the Andes. Knowing the location, he was able take another modern image (below bottom) showing the ice floes as they are today. A composite, overlay image of both shows the extent of ice that has been lost in this region between the times the photos were taken.
