New Method Inverts the Self-Assembly of Liquid Crystals

The image sequence shows the reversible shape transformation of an LCE sphere; where folded shape similar to spherical pancakes at 20°C turns into a smooth sphere at 60°C and vice versa. The characteristic colors on the sphere resemble the anti-ordered microscale arrangement of molecules.
