The Suprachiasmatic nucleus or SCN (shown here in a rat) is localized just dorsal to the optic chiasma, where both left and right optic nerves converge at the bottom of the brain. Here, the myelin of optic nerves is stained blue. This image relates to a paper that appeared in the 4 Oct., 2013, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The paper, by Yoshiaki Yamaguchi at Kyoto University in Kyoto, Japan, and colleagues was titled, "Mice Genetically Deficient in Vasopressin V1a and V1b Receptors Are Resistant to Jet Lag."
