Coupling ultracold matter to dynamical gauge fields in optical lattices (1 of 2) (IMAGE)
Caption
Mixtures of ultracold atoms in an optical lattice, subject to periodic shaking, behave like charged particles coupled to a gauge field. This material relates to a paper that appeared in the Oct. 11th, 2019, issue of Science Advances, published by AAAS. The paper, by L. Barbiero at Université Libre de Bruxelles in Brussels, Belgium, and colleagues was titled, "Coupling ultracold matter to dynamical gauge fields in optical lattices: From flux-attachment to Z2 lattice gauge theories."
