Alternating Training Improves Motor Learning (VIDEO)
Caption
This video offers a cartoon image of a healthy adult's experience walking on a split treadmill with belts moving at identical and different speeds. Early exposure to treadmill belts moving at different speeds causes the participant to walk awkwardly. With practice, however, the participant is able to learn to achieve a smooth stride. When belts are switched back to identical speeds, the participant’s stride once again changes, showing that the new pattern has to be unlearned.
