This is the scanning single-electron transistor microscope. This image relates to a paper that appeared in the Sept. 7, 2012, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The paper, by Benjamin Feldman at Harvard University in Cambridge, Mass., and colleagues was titled, "Unconventional Sequence of Fractional Quantum Hall States in Suspended Graphene."
