In systolic heart failure, weakened contractions of the ventricle muscle wall pump less blood into circulation. This image appears in a Perspective by Leslie A. Leinwand and Richard L. Moss titled, "Chemically Tuned Myosin Motors," and relates to an article that appeared in the March 18, 2011, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The study, by Dr. Malik, at Cytokinetics Inc. in south San Francisco, Calif., and colleagues was titled, "Cardiac Myosin Activation: A Potential Therapeutic Approach for Systolic Heart Failure."
