Social Defeat Stress Model Using Rats (VIDEO)
Caption
In this study, researchers used a social defeat stress model using rats. This movie shows that a white rat (naive male Wistar rat) was attacked by a black-and-white rat (aggressive Long-Evans rat), and the defeated Wistar rat eventually showed a submissive posture. After the display of the submissive posture, a wire-mesh partition was placed between two of them to avoid further physical contact. The defeated rat showed rapid increases in brown adipose tissue heat production and in body temperature immediately after the initiation of the exposure to the aggressive rat.
