Asparagus Freezing Tolerance Related to Rhizome Traits

Freezing-tolerant Guelph Millennium (left) and freezing-susceptible UC157 (right) crowns are shown. Most UC157 rhizome buds were damaged when plants were dug from the field in the spring and subjected to freezing temperatures. UC157 deacclimated and lost freezing tolerance earlier than Guelph Millennium.
