Alice Fothergill (left), a sociologist at the University of Vermont, and Lori Peek, a sociologist at Colorado State University, are the co-authors of Children of Katrina, a new book that reports on the post-disaster experiences of hundreds of children in and around New Orleans affected by the hurricane. The photograph was taken in New Orleans' Lower Ninth Ward, a neighborhood that is still in disrepair.
