On Sept. 17 NASA-NOAA's Suomi NPP satellite passed over newly developed Tropical Depression 10 as it was strengthening into a tropical storm, and found strong bands of thunderstorms over the southern and southwestern portions of the circulation, but were limited over the remainder of the cyclone.
