Chemo Treats Brain Cancer Patients with Help from a Virus (IMAGE)

In an early clinical trial of brain cancer patients, a new cancer therapy dispatches a virus to infect the tumor and deliver an enzyme, which activates a chemotherapeutic prodrug. This material relates to a paper that appeared in the June 1, 2016 issue of Science Translational Medicine, published by AAAS. The paper, by T.F. Cloughesy at University of California, Los Angeles in Los Angeles, CA, and colleagues was titled, "Phase 1 trial of vocimagene amiretrorepvec and 5-fluorocytosine for recurrent high-grade glioma."
