A male rock sparrow: His song reveals a lot about his qualities as a potential mate, so females will be listening carefully to his performance. A team of researchers from the Max Planck Institute for Ornithology in Seewiesen and the University of Copenhagen have discovered that the tempo, the pitch, and the amplitude of song reflect male reproductive success.
