Research Funded by PETA Science Group Breaks New Ground with Animal-Free Antibodies (IMAGE)
Caption
Inspections of facilities where horses are used to produce animal-derived antitoxins have found widespread neglect of animal welfare regulations, with horses confined to filthy, severely crowded enclosures and suffering from anaemia, diseased hooves, eye abnormalities, infections, parasites, and malnutrition. This horse has untreatable acute laminitis, is very thin, and has numerous pressure ulcers from being unable to stand for very long.
