This is a 3-D rendering of vesicle aggregation induced by an amphipathic, alpha helical peptide derived from the hepatitis C virus NS4B protein, as imaged by atomic force microscopy. The light brown corresponds to vesicle aggregates. This image relates to an article that appeared in the Jan. 20, 2010, issue of Science Translational Medicine. The study, by Dr. N.-J. Cho of Stanford University in Stanford, Calif., and colleagues was titled, "Identification of a Novel Class of HCV Inhibitors."
