This study proposes that over Earth's four billion year history, ecosystem-altering events largely controlled the pace of evolution. This material relates to a paper that appeared in the May 17, 2017, issue of Science Advances, published by AAAS. The paper, by A.H. Knoll at Harvard University in Cambridge, Mass., and colleagues was titled, "The timetable of evolution."
