Clues to Early Breast Cancer Spread (1 of 1) (IMAGE)
Caption
KLF6-SV1 is a key molecular switch that drives breast cancer metastasis. This figure illustrates how KLF6-SV1 causes localized breast cancer cell lines to become aggressive, invasive and spread throughout the body in both patients and mouse models of the disease. This image relates to a paper that appeared in the Jan. 23, 2013, issue of Science Translational Medicine, published by AAAS. The paper, by R. Hatami at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, N.Y., and colleagues was titled, “KLF6-SV1 Drives Breast Cancer Metastasis and Is Associated with Poor Survival.”
