Atmospheric Chorus Leads to Mysterious Hiss (6 of 9) (AUDIO)
Caption
An example of chorus measured outside of the plasmasphere, recorded by a small spacecraft, MAGION-5, built and operated by the Institute of Atmospheric Physics in Prague, Czech Republic. The waves have been measured onboard the spacecraft by an electric antenna, transmitted to the ground station in Panska Ves, digitized and formatted to audio files. This audio relates to an article that appeared in the May 8, 2009, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The paper, by Dr. Ondrej Santolik and Dr. J. Chum of the Institute of Atmospheric Physics was titled, "The Origin of Plasmaspheric Hiss."
