Trajectories of marked ants. Each colored line represents the trajectory of an ant in the preceding minute. Ants without visible lines were immobile in the preceding minute. The frame rate is accelerated five times. This video relates to a paper that appeared in the April 18, 2013, issue of Science Express, published by AAAS. The paper, by Danielle Mersch at University of Lausanne in Lausanne, Switzerland, and colleagues was titled, “Tracking Individuals Shows Spatial Fidelity Is a Key Regulator of Ant Social Organization.”
