Little bats have big effects: Micronycteris microtus is one of three species of insectivorous bats common in Mexican coffee plantations whose predation reduces arthropod numbers on coffee plants. This image relates to an article that appeared in the April 4, 2008 issue of the journal Science, published by AAAS. The study, by Dr. Kimberly Williams Guillén and colleagues at University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI, was titled "Bats Limit Insects in a Neotropical Agroforestry System."
